FAQ

1. How should I properly care for my candle?

  • Keep wick centered and trimmed to ¼’’ at all times
  • Burn candle within sight at all times
  • Keep out of the reach of children and pets
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire
  • Remove all packaging before burning
  • Place on temperature safe surface to avoid heat damage
  • Keep away from drafts
  • Keep wax pool free of debris
  • Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time
  • Discontinue use when ¼’’ of wax remains
  • Do not use water or any other liquid to extinguish your candle

Put your glass jar or tin in the freezer, pop out the left over wax and wick remnants, wash  and re-use or recycle.

Our wood dough bowls are not reusable as re-poured candles but can be reused as decorative pieces.

2. Why is the top of my candle bumpy?

Not to worry, bumpy surfaces are common with 100% soy wax — it happens when the candle cools at an inconsistent rate. Sometimes your candle can dry with an uneven surface and sometimes it will dry smooth as ever. The good news is that this is completely natural and will in no way impact the performance of your candle.

3. My candle looks like it is sweating - what is that?

Sweating is totally natural in 100% soy wax candles. Soy wax is sensitive to extreme temperature changes, causing the natural oils to separate from the wax and leaving small drops of oil on top. Sweating will not affect the quality of your candle at all and you can simply wipe off the excess oil with a paper towel or tissue. To avoid this, keep your candles away from drafts, direct sunlight, and any rooms that greatly vary in temperature.

4. I would love to reuse these beautiful jars and lids, how can I do that?

We love that and we also reuse our jars and tins in many ways! Impromptu vases, to hold Q-Tips in the bathroom, as candy jars… the ideas are endless.

To properly clean your glass jars and tins, you will want to remove any residual wax on the inside of the jar or tin. You can do this easily by popping the jar or tin (without the top) into the freezer. Once the wax is frozen, you can gently remove the remaining wax with a blunt knife or by breaking it up with a fork. You can then wash the inside with some soap and water. If you want to remove any labelling, you can simply spray the label with rubbing alcohol (it breaks up the adhesive) and peel the label off.
